RECOUNT

We know many kinds of genre in English, and one of the most popular genres is recount text, because we often find it in the common text that we usually read about informing or telling something to our friends, our family, about our experiences.

The social function of recount text:

1.      to retell events for the purpose of informing or entertaining.

2.      A recount is a piece of text that tells past events, usually in the order in which they happened

3.      The purpose of recount itself is to give the audience the description of what occurred and when it occurred.

Generic structure of recount:

1.      Orientation : the setting and introduce participants

2.      Events in time order : tell what happened, in what sequence.

3.      Reorientation : optional – closure of events/ending

I went to Pangandaran last month. I went there with my friends. Pangandaran is located in West Java. The reason why we choose Pangandaran as the object of our holidays because it has a lot of choice to relax our mind, such as beautiful beach,  complete facility such as hotel, restaurant, and traditional market that sell many handkerchiefs of Pangandaran beach. We spent three days there, and we visited many places there, from beach until waterboom. It is a really good experience, because it is the first time for us visiting Pangandaran. And I like Pangandaran very much.
